INGREDIENTS:

5 large tart apples--sliced (Jonathan or Granny Smith)

1/2 cup sugar

1 teaspoon cinnamon

2 tablespoons water

1 1/2 teaspoon vanilla

Golden Apple Crumble

INSTRUCTIONS:

Place sliced apples, sugar, cinnamon, water, and vanilla in good size mixing bowl. Let sit at room temperature until it has formed its own juice.Stir it occasionally.

After that arrange in a 9 inch square (or its equivalent in size) baking dish.

Cover with Cheese Crumble and bake about 50 minutes at 350 degrees until apples are tender and topping is golden brown.

Cheese Crumble Topping

INGREDIENTS:

1 cup flour

1/2 cup sugar

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/2 cup grated sharp cheese

1/2 cup melted butter or margarine

INSTRUCTIONS:

Mix all together and place in refrigerator long enough to cool well and make it easier to crumble.

Place over apples.

It is especially good warmed and very good with vanilla ice cream.
